Filling the cooling liquid

The workflow for restoration is as follows:

The machine needs cooling liquid that meets the following requirements:

  • Drinking water – for some blank types, you must add cooling lubricant (see below)
  • No added chlorine
  • No distilled water
  • No carbonated water

Without sufficient cooling liquid in the tank, wet machining is not possible. You will find the appropriate intervals in the maintenance table. Of course, you can exchange the cooling liquid at any time.

You need to exchange the cooling liquid in the following cases:

  • The change interval in the maintenance table has been exceeded.
  • The cooling liquid is soiled.
  • In case of a strong odor from or a biofilm on the cooling liquid.
  • If you use a cooling lubricant: The pH value is below 9.

Every time you exchange the cooling liquid, you must also clean the tank.

The cooling liquid tank is dishwasher-safe. If you use a dishwasher, select a cleaning program with a maximum temperature of 70 °C. To preserve the cooling liquid filter, remove it and clean it by hand.

Before every job, you also have to check the strainer basket and empty it if required.

  1. Close the working chamber door.
  2. Open the multi-purpose compartment.
  3. Pull the cooling liquid tank out of the multi-purpose compartment.
  4. When you tilt the cooling liquid tank, the cover will not prevent the cooling liquid from leaking.

  5. If there is cooling liquid in the cooling liquid tank, empty and clean the cooling liquid tank.

Exchanging the cooling liquid and cleaning the cooling liquid tank

  6. Lift the cover, including the strainer basket, off the cooling liquid tank.

  7. Pull the strainer basket upward out of the cover.

  8.

  9. Fill the cooling liquid tank with cooling liquid until it reaches the max mark.

  10. The maximum marking (orange) on the label in the tank

  11. When machining titanium blanks: Add the cooling lubricant Tec Liquid Pro to the cooling liquid. The mixing ratio is indicated on the bottle label. Determine the pH value of the cooling liquid. Determine the pH value of the cooling liquid

  12. Insert the strainer basket into the tank cover and put the cover onto the tank.

  13. Remove dirt and foreign bodies from the coupling of the cooling liquid tank and the counterpart in the machine.

  14. Push the cooling liquid tank into the multi-purpose compartment until the tank is properly attached to the machine.

Determine the pH value of the cooling liquid

If you added cooling lubricant to the cooling liquid, you need to check the pH value of the cooling liquid to determine whether you need to exchange it.

  • Determine the pH value of the cooling liquid directly after adding the cooling lubricant and when you didn’t use the machine for 2 days.
  • To determine the pH value of the cooling liquid with test strips, do the following:

Test strips are available from customer service.

  1. Hold one test strip into the cooling liquid for a few seconds.
  2. Compare the colors on the test strip with the indications on the container of the pH test strips.
    • The colors on the test strip match the pH value 9 on the container.

Used pH test strip (right) and indications on the container

  1. The pH value as indicated on the container
  2. Colors as indicated on the container
  3. pH test strip that was used to test the cooling liquid
  • If the pH value is below 9 or if the change interval in the maintenance table has been exceeded, exchange the cooling liquid.
