Exchanging the cooling liquid and cleaning the cooling liquid tank

You need to exchange the cooling liquid in the following cases:

  • The change interval in the maintenance table has been exceeded.
  • The cooling liquid is soiled.
  • In case of a strong odor from or a biofilm on the cooling liquid.
  • If you use a cooling lubricant: The pH value is below 9.

Preparation

  1. Have ready:

    • Collecting container that can hold approx. 10 l

    • Cleaning brush

    • Water for cleaning the cooling liquid tank

    • Small cleaning brush

    • Carbon pellets and spare fine filter (optional)

    • A mild cleaning agent (optional)

  2. Make sure that sufficient cooling liquid is available.

  3. Close the working chamber door.
  4. Open the multi-purpose compartment.
  5. Pull the cooling liquid tank out of the multi-purpose compartment.

    6. When you tilt the cooling liquid tank, the cover will not prevent the cooling liquid from leaking.

     

Cleaning the strainer basket

  1. Lift the cover, including the strainer basket, off the cooling liquid tank.

  2. Empty the contents of the cooling liquid tank container into the collecting container.

  3. Pull the strainer basket upward out of the cover.

    4.  

  4. Clean the strainer basket:

    1. Tap out the strainer basket into the collecting container.

    2. While rinsing the strainer basket under running water, clean it thoroughly with the cleaning brush.

Cleaning the cooling liquid filter and exchanging the carbon pellets

There are the following variants of the cooling liquid filter:

Variant A

 

  1. Fine filter
  2. Cap of the carbon filter
  3. Carbon filter
  4. Mesh filter
  5. Filter socket

  1. Fine filter

  3. Carbon filter
  4. Mesh filter

**An additional nut fixates the coupling of the cooling liquid tank onto which the filter is screwed. The nut is supplied with the spare part.

  • Older versions are possible no longer be available as spare parts.

  • All variants are compatible with all cooling liquid tanks.

    1. Pull off the fine filter.

    2. Loosen the filter housing with a twisting motion and unscrew it.

       

       

    3. Rinse the back of the filter housing with running water.

       

    4. Clean the outer and inner mesh filters with a small brush.

       

       

    5. If you need to exchange the carbon pellets according to the interval in the maintenance table, do the following:

      1. Remove the cap of the carbon filter from the filter housing by turning and pulling it at the same time.

         

      2. Empty the carbon filter. Dispose of the carbon pellets.

         

      3. Fill new carbon pellets into the carbon filter up to approx. 1 mm below the edge.

         

      4. Fixate the cap of the carbon filter by turning and pressing on the filter housing at the same time.

         

        • The cap of the carbon filter sits flush on the filter housing.

           

      5. If you have not exchanged the carbon pellets, clean the fine filter carefully under running water.

         

        If you have exchanged the carbon pellets, have a spare fine filter ready.

      6. Recommendation: Clean the coupling of the cooling liquid tank.

        Cleaning or exchanging the coupling of the cooling liquid tank

      7. Screw the filter housing onto the coupling in the cooling liquid tank.

      8. Slide the cleaned fine filter or the spare fine filter onto the filter housing. Make sure that the fine filter completely covers the filter housing.

         

         

    NOTICE! Damage to the cooling liquid filter due to incorrect loosening

  1. Grasp the filter housing by the metal ring and loosen it with a twisting motion.

  2. Screw off the filter housing.

    3.  

    1. Remove the fine filter by stretching the top end slightly and pulling it straight off the filter with both hands.

       

    2. If you need to exchange the carbon pellets according to the interval in the maintenance table, do the following:

      1. Unscrew the cap of the carbon filter from the filter.

         

      2. Empty the carbon filter. Dispose of the carbon pellets.

      3. Clean the carbon filter and dry it with a cloth.

      4. Fill new carbon pellets into the carbon filter.

         

      5. Firmly close the carbon filter with the cap.

        6. NOTICE! Damage to the fine filter due to excessive rubbing

      6. If you have not exchanged the carbon pellets, clean the fine filter carefully under running water.

        If you have exchanged the carbon pellets, have a spare fine filter ready.

      7. Recommendation: Clean the coupling of the cooling liquid tank.

        Cleaning or exchanging the coupling of the cooling liquid tank

      8. Slide the cleaned fine filter or the spare fine filter onto the filter housing.

        • Make sure that the fine filter covers the filter completely.

        • If the fine filter is too long, cut it to the length of your cooling liquid filter.

      9. Screw the fine filter onto the coupling in the cooling liquid tank.

  3. Pull off the filter housing.

    4.  

    1. Remove the fine filter by stretching the top end slightly and pulling it straight off the filter with both hands.

       

    2. If you need to exchange the carbon pellets according to the interval in the maintenance table, do the following:

      1. Remove the carbon filter by straightly pulling it off the filter.

      2. Carefully lift the carbon filter cap with your fingernail or a flat blunt tool and pull it off the carbon filter.

         

      3. Empty the carbon filter. Dispose of the carbon pellets.

      4. Clean the carbon filter and dry it with a cloth.

      5. Fill new carbon pellets into the carbon filter.

         

      6. Firmly close the carbon filter with the cap.

        7. NOTICE! Damage to the fine filter due to excessive rubbing

      7. If you have not exchanged the carbon pellets, clean the fine filter carefully under running water.

        If you have exchanged the carbon pellets, have a spare fine filter ready.

      8. Recommendation: Clean the coupling of the cooling liquid tank.

        Cleaning or exchanging the coupling of the cooling liquid tank

      9. Slide the cleaned fine filter or the spare fine filter onto the filter housing.

        • Make sure that the fine filter covers the filter completely.

        • If the fine filter is too long, cut it to the length of your cooling liquid filter.

      10. Place the fine filter onto the coupling in the cooling liquid tank.

Cleaning the cooling liquid tank

  1. If you want to clean the cooling liquid tank in the dishwasher, do the following:

    1. Make sure that the all disposal regulations for machining residues are always complied with.

    2. Select a cleaning program with a maximum temperature of 70 °C.

  2. If you want to clean the cooling liquid tank manually, do the following:

    1. Thoroughly clean the cooling liquid tank with the cleaning brush.

    2. Pour the cleaning water into the collecting container.

    3. If you have used a cleaner, make sure that there is no residue of it in the cooling liquid tank.

    • The cooling liquid tank is completely void of liquid, machining and cleaner residues.

  3. Remove dirt and foreign bodies from the coupling (marked green) of the cooling liquid tank and the counterpart in the machine.

Cleaning the multi-purpose compartment and cooling liquid sponge

  1. Thoroughly clean the solid surface in the multi-purpose compartment on which the cooling liquid tank is located.
  2. Dry the surface with a cloth.

  3. If the surface contains a cooling liquid sponge, pull the cooling liquid sponge out of the slot.

     

    • If the sponge is very soiled, exchange it.

    • If the sponge is moderately soiled:

      2. Rinse the sponge under running water.
      3. Wring the sponge out.
      4. Allow the sponge to dry.
      5. Insert the sponge into the slot.

Completing maintenance

  1. Fill in cooling liquid.
  2. Insert the strainer basket into the cover.
  3. Place the cover onto the cooling liquid tank.
  4. Push the cooling liquid tank into the multi-purpose compartment until the tank is properly attached to the machine.
  5. Close the multi-purpose compartment.
