Installing the machine

In which order do I have to install the components of the Z4?

Checking the scope of delivery

  • Unpack the machine and ensure that you have received the following items:

  5. 1 x Ethernet network cable (type: straight)
  6. 1 x Spindle service set
  7. 1 x Interdental brush (for cleaning the nozzle plate)
  8. 1 x Block holder service set
  9. 1 x Tube of collet chuck grease (for spindle, blank holder, tool magazine holder)
  10. 5 x Tool magazine (in the drawer)
  11. 1 x Measuring pin
  12. 1 x Drill bit for tool positions (2.8 mm)
  13. 1 x Calibration set: 1 micrometer, 5 blanks for manufacturing test and calibration specimens, 1 radius cutter with 2 teeth (P200-R1-35)
  14. 1 x Microfiber cloth
  15. 1 x View window wiper
  16. 1 x Tank with activated carbon
  17. 1 x Fine filter
  18. 3 x Fixing screw for the collet chuck of the blank holder

  • Store the measuring pin and the calibration set safely near the machine. Customer service will need them for maintenance.
  • Keep the packaging of the machine, the carrying aid and the transport lock for future transports.

The installation site must meet the following criteria:

  • Firm and even surface, must be able to carry the weight of the machine.
  • Alternating current source.
  • An operational Residual Current Device / Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter on the electric circuit of the machine.
  • Access to the internet and local computer network via cable / WiFi.

NOTICE

Damaging of the machine if safety distances are not maintained

If you do not maintain the safety distances, the movable parts of the housing can collide with obstacles when being opened and get damaged. If the ventilation openings are covered, the machine may overheat and get severely damaged.

  • Ensure that the following safety intervals are always maintained.

  1. Hang the hooks (marked blue) of the bracket on the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC. into the slots (marked orange) of the bracket on the machine.

     

  2. Move the movable part of the bracket (marked blue) outwards and towards the machine.

     

  3. Slide the movable part of the bracket (marked blue) into the slots of the bracket on the machine. Tighten the screw (marked red).

     

  4. Connect the machine and the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC. with the supplied USB cables.

     

CAM computer variant 2

  1. Place the bracket on the back of the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC. on the screws of the back panel cover (marked in blue). Make sure that all 4 recesses (marked orange) are on the screws.

     

  2. Move the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC. to the right and downward. Check that the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC. is securely attached to the back panel cover.

     

  3. Connect the machine and the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC. with the supplied USB cables.

NOTICE

Damaging of the machine through heavy voltage fluctuations and power surges

Large mains voltage fluctuations and power surges disrupt the control unit and can cause system failures.

  • Connect the machine to a separately protected circuit or ensure that no devices are connected that cause severe mains voltage fluctuations when powered on.
  • If strong voltage fluctuations cannot be avoided, install a surge protector to safeguard the machine against strong voltage fluctuations.
NOTICE

Short-circuit hazard when the machine is too cold

If the machine is transported from a cold environment into a warmer environment, a short circuit may occur caused by condensate.

  • Before switching on the machine after transportation, ensure the following:
  • The ambient air has the allowed temperature.
  • The machine has the same temperature as the ambient air. This will take at least 48 hours.
  • The machine is completely dry.

The machine requires an uninterruptible power supply for proper operation.

  1. Plug the provided power cable into the mains connection on the connection panel of the machine.

  2. NOTICE! To avoid job interruptions, install an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), type online / VFI (IEC 62040-3, Class 1) if there are regular power failures or frequent mains voltage fluctuations.

  3. Insert the plug of the cable into a socket that is protected by a Residual Current Device / Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter.
  4. Machines with external CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC.: Plug the power cord supplied with the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC. into the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC.’s power socket. Insert the plug of the cable into a socket that is protected by a Residual Current Device / Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter.

Before operating the machine for the first time, you must remove the transport lock in the machine working chamber. The transport lock prevents the spindle from getting damaged during transport.

  1. Ensure the following:
    • The machine is connected to the electrical source.
  2. Switch on the machine at the main power switch.
  3. Machines with internal CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC.: Press the start button.
  4. Machines with external CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC.: Start the CAM computerClosed The computer that is connected to your machine and which runs DentalCAM and DentalCNC..
    • The machine references.
  5. Open the working chamber door by selecting the upper arrow of the depicted icon on the touchscreen.
  6. Remove the transport lock as shown in the supplement.

At delivery, the following pieces of protective film are attached to the machine:

  • 2 on the front machine housing
  • 1 on the working chamber door
  • 1 on the top cover
  • 4 in the multi-purpose drawer
  • Before machine installation, carefully peel the protective film off the machine with your hands.

After you have removed the transport lock, you should open the multi-purpose drawer and check the tool magazines.

  1. To unlock the multi-purpose drawer, select the lower arrow of the depicted icon in the Home section of the touchscreen.
    • After a couple of seconds, the drawer will move slightly forward.
  2. Pull the drawer open.
  3. Remove all pieces of the protective film.
  4. Remove the cover for the transport lock from the tool magazines.
  5. Verify that there are 5 tool magazines with different color codes in the drawer.
  6. To close the multi-purpose drawer, push it until it locks back in place.
    • You will hear a clicking sound.
