Importing data from version 7 into version 8

While you can import your blank archive from DentalCAM 7 automatically, there are other data that you must copy manually.

  1. Close DentalCAM & DentalCNC 8.
  2. Copy the data in the following table from the DentalCAM 7 folder to the DentalCAM 8 folder.

    • Only copy data which is marked with Yes in the third column of the table below.
    • For folders, copy the folders themselves, and not the files they contain.

    • Overwrite all files and folders.

Importing tool data

Step 1: Import virtual ATB

The virtual ATB maps your tool inventory.

  1. Close DentalCAM & DentalCNC 8.

  2. Open the DentalCAM & DentalCNC 7 installation folderClosed The folder on your hard drive that you installed DentalCAM and DentalCNC in..

  3. Open the Set folder.

  4. Copy the Tool<x>.mdb files to the clipboard. <x> is a continuous number.

    Example: Tool1.mdb, Tool2.mdb, Tool3.mdb, etc.

  5. Open the DentalCAM & DentalCNC 8 installation folderClosed The folder on your hard drive that you installed DentalCAM and DentalCNC in..

  6. Open the Set folder.

  7. Paste the files into the folder.

  8. If you use a K5 or K5+, do the following:

    1. Delete the file Tool4.mdb.

    2. Duplicate the file Tool2.mdb.
    3. Rename the duplicate file to Tool4.mdb.

Step 2: Import virtual tool magazine (optional)

The virtual tool magazine maps the tools in the tool magazine of your machine.

  1. Import the virtual ATB. Step 1: Import virtual ATB

  4. Open the Set folder.

  5. Copy the M1TC<x>.tzo files to the clipboard. <x> is a number.

    Example: M1TC6.tzo, M1TC7.tzo, M1TC16.tzo, etc.

  6. Open the DentalCAM & DentalCNC 8 installation folderClosed The folder on your hard drive that you installed DentalCAM and DentalCNC in..

  7. Open the Set folder.

  8. Paste the files into the folder.

  9. Rename the inserted files:

    1. Find your machine(s) in the 1st column in the table below.

    2. Replace the filename in the 2nd column with the filename in the 3rd column.

    3. If you use machines with the same source files, configure the tools manually in DentalCNC.
